AGWA at UNFCCC COP29

UNFCCC COP29 Overview

The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will be hosted by Azerbaijan from 11 - 22 November in Baku. COP29 serves as the formal meeting of the UNFCCC parties (i.e., countries) to negotiate and agree upon actions on how to tackle climate change, limit emissions, and halt global warming.

Water at COP29

The COP President Designate from Azerbaijan recently released a letter outlining overall priorities for COP29. You can read the letter on the Presidency Action Agenda here. Water will once again be featured in the COP Presidency agenda, including through the Baku Dialogue on Water for Climate Action and on the Presidency Thematic Day on Food, Water, and Agriculture set for 19 November.
