NAP Global Network at COP 22
The NAP Global Network
is gearing up for activities in Marrakech during COP 22. The NAP Global Network aims to enhance national adaptation planning and action in developing countries through coordination of bilateral support and in-country actors. The Network also facilitates international peer learning and exchange.
Please find below information on events that the Network is involved in at COP22.

The Role of the NAP Process in Translating NDC Adaptation Goals into Action
Organized by Germany’s GIZ (with simultaneous interpretation)
November 09 | 15:00-16:30 | Morocco Pavilion
This event aims at stimulating and enriching discussions without attempting to provide a final answer to the question of synergies and links between adaptation components in NDCs and the NAP process. It will feature the Network’s program manager Hayley Price-Kelly on its panel. The event will provide a space for practitioners to exchange on possible links from which NDCs and the NAP process can benefit from at international and national level. A Q&A will allow for participants’ questions on the linkages between NDC adaptation components and NAPs.

U.S. Bilateral Support for Adaptation and the NAP Global Network
Co-organized by the United States State Department, USAID, and the NAP Global Network
November 14 | 10:00-11:30 | U.S. Center
Over the last six years, U.S. support for adaptation has increased and evolved, and now focuses on three critical areas: 1) building capacity to plan for adaptation in all sectors and at all levels of governance, 2) improving access to information for planning and decision-making, and 3) increasing access for financing implementation. Cutting across these three areas, the US has also emphasized the importance of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and their role in facilitating a shift away from ad-hoc investments to more coherent and strategic approaches to reducing climate risk.
Through its work on adaptation, the U.S. and developing and developed country partners have identified the need for sustained coordination between adaptation practitioners in order to leverage and learn from each other’s approaches, experiences, and program. This led us to the formation of the NAP Global Network at COP 20 in Lima.
