What Makes Urban Deltas Resilient?

With increasing pressure from population growth, urbanization, industrialization and a changing climate, it is more important than ever that Deltas, given their valuable and vulnerable locations, increase their resilience to changing conditions.

A key aspect of urban delta areas’ resilience is spatial planning and design. Examples from across the world show consensus about the need for adaptive planning that provides room for the natural dynamics of rivers and sea, instead of trying to control these dynamics completely.
