U.S. Bilateral Support for Adaptation and the NAP Global NetworkCo-organized by the United States State Department, USAID, and the NAP Global Network
November 14 | 10:00-11:30 | U.S. Center

Over the last six years, U.S. support for adaptation has increased and evolved, and now focuses on three critical areas: 1) building capacity to plan for adaptation in all sectors and at all levels of governance, 2) improving access to information for planning and decision-making, and 3) increasing access for financing implementation. Cutting across these three areas, the US has also emphasized the importance of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and their role in facilitating a shift away from ad-hoc investments to more coherent and strategic approaches to reducing climate risk.

Through its work on adaptation, the U.S. and developing and developed country partners have identified the need for sustained coordination between adaptation practitioners in order to leverage and learn from each other’s approaches, experiences, and program. This led us to the formation of the NAP Global Network at COP 20 in Lima.
