AGWA's Emerging Work on Country Support for NDC Implementation
For many years, AGWA has worked to influence global climate policy by highlighting the critical role that resilient water management plays in mitigating and adapting to climate change. Beginning with a series of UNFCCC-sponsored workshops for national adaptation focal points in 2018, AGWA has been working to downscale our international climate policy program to the national level. As countries make new national commitments under the Paris Agreement this year, we have been approached by partners at GIZ and WRI to provide water adaptation assistance to a number of national adaptation focal points, helping countries to successfully implement water-centric adaptation at the local and regional levels. This is an exciting new direction for AGWA with (we believe) great potential to expand over the coming years.
