Online Training: Introduction to Climate Risk Informed Decision Analysis (CRIDA)
To support its Member States to assess the impact of climate change and other global drivers on water and ecological resources management and to develop adequate adaptation pathways, UNESCO co-published the Climate Risk Informed Decision Analysis (CRIDA) approach in 2018. To strengthen the capacities to use and implement this innovative approach, UNESCO has developed an online training course on CRIDA in collaboration with AGWA, Deltares, and ICIWaRM (International Centre for Integrated Water Resources Management).
The free, self-paced online course first took place in November and December 2020 on the UNESCO Open Learning Platform. In 2022, the course will again be open to the public. An English version and a Spanish version are both being offered.
Course Description
In these self-paced online courses, the participant will be introduced to the Climate Risk Informed Decision Analysis (CRIDA), which provides guidelines to assess water security vulnerabilities due to climate variability and change, and provides guidance on the development of adaptation pathways for water resources management. The courses consists of 11 modules each that present the CRIDA approach through a set of video lectures and hands-on exercises, as well as presenting a set of global CRIDA case studies.
This online courses end in a capstone project where the participant is asked to develop his or her own CRIDA Case Study using all the knowledge and tools learnt. After successfully completing the course assessments, participants will be awarded with a certificate of completion.
The online CRIDA courses are organized as part of the project ‘Enhancing Climate Services for Improved Water Resources Management in Vulnerable Regions to Climate Change’ (CliMWaR), funded by the Flemish UNESCO Science Trust Fund (FUST).
Course Dates
28 February - 30 May 2022 (English version)
