Raúl Muñoz Castillo

 

Dr. Raúl Muñoz Castillo is a Water Resources and Climate Change Adaptation Senior Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), serving in the Water and Sanitation Division. His work spans several categories including project/program design and donor management, strategic planning and leadership, and knowledge management, research, and technical support.

He has more than 20 years experience working on environmental and water resources management, with broad international experience working at the private sector, public sector, multilateral organizations and academia. His work has a strong focus on water infrastructure and water policy. At the IADB, he is working to design, supervise, and manage the new IADB Water Security  and Climate Resilience Strategy. He also plays a leading role in the IDB Initiative for Transboundary Basin Management, The Water-Energy-Food Nexus Agenda, and the Initiative for Water Resources and Circular Economy (Waste-Water-to-Resources) with projects and pilot applications at regional, national, and basin levels.

Raúl has published as lead author and as co-author numerous publications in world class journals on water, sustainability and environmental related issues. He holds a PhD in Geographical Sciences from the University of Maryland where he concentrated on Water and Land Nexus and the Paris Agreement in Brazil. He also holds an MBA from the Center for Economic and Trade Studies at the Spanish Foreign Trade Institute.
