AGWA's Policy Director Seconded to COP28 Presidency Team
Water has reached a new level in the COP process.
We are pleased to announce that AGWA's Policy Director, Ingrid Timboe, has been seconded to the COP28 Presidency Programmes & Partnerships Team as a Senior Specialist for Water. In this capacity she will be advising the United Arab Emirates' Presidency Team on water priorities ahead of this year's UN Climate Conference (COP28). The UAE has designated water as one of its priority themes for the conference, building on Egypt's leadership at COP27, where water received its own day in the Presidency agenda for the first time.
Ingrid will be working with the broader Partnerships team to develop the Presidency programme for COP28. This includes a dedicated day on Water and Food Systems (10 December), but also includes mainstreaming water within other thematic priorities including health, nature, energy, and cities. In addition, the team is responsible for developing content and mobilizing regional partners during the UNFCCC Regional Climate Weeks leading up to COP.
This is a temporary post which will conclude in early December. During this period, she will continue to oversee AGWA's policy work with support from our newly-hired policy consultant, Josh Weinberg and the broader AGWA Secretariat.
