Be-Resilient Regional Forum: Co-generation & implementation of climate resilience in biosphere reserves
Hello all! The following announcement is a call for participation from our friends at UNESCO.
UNESCO is responding to the devastating impact of climate change in a number of ways which include investment in renewable energy, energy, water and natural resources conservation as well as promotion of climate friendly practices in homes and workplaces.
The UNESCO Be Resilient family of projects are initiatives that collaborate with Biosphere Reserves (BRs) in the region, national governments, community organisations, local and international research institutions to develop local solutions, combining scientific tools and local knowledge to enhance resilience and adaptation in the wake of the growing threats of climate change. Supported by various partners like the Government of Flanders, the Austrian Development Agency, and the World Bank, these projects aim to strengthen communities' resilience and develop adaptation strategies.
It is our pleasure to invite you to participate in the Be-Resilient Regional Forum under the theme “Co-generation & implementation of climate resilience in biosphere reserves”. The forum brings together implementing partners in UNESCO supported landscapes and partner organisations aiming to:
strengthen resilience and adaptation capacities at landscape level,
take stock of these regional initiatives to mitigate and adapt to climate change and,
provide an opportunity to share lessons learned, proffer ideas and solutions for further action and synergies between partners.
See below key dates and times for the event:
Dates: 1 – 3 November 2023
Time: 08:00 hrs – 17:00 hrs (South African Time)
Venue: Cape Town, South Africa
For those that register, a formal invitation and agenda will be shared in due course. UNESCO is inviting interested individuals and organizations to submit abstracts by 1 September as part of the Forum. You can view the call for abstracts with further details here.
