AGWA Receives Continued Support from GIZ for 2020-2022

Starting in December 2020, AGWA commenced a new two-year program of work supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). We are excited to begin a new set of activities around climate change and water that bridges technical and policy initiatives for deep resilience, building on the successful body of work we completed in 2019-2020 under the first GIZ grant. Programs within the scope of work will cover our efforts to guide practitioners, policymakers, and the private sector towards long-term resilient water management decisions that are supportive of and aligned with emerging Covid-19 recovery investments. The broad set of initiatives will work to align water and climate policy and funding through capacity building, policy support, and UNFCCC engagement including COP26 and COP27.

The two-year funding agreement cements and expands ongoing collaboration between our organizations. Funds from the initial grant helped AGWA leverage its existing policy portfolio and deepen our engagement with groups like the UNFCCC Adaptation Committee, while laying the groundwork for our work with both government and corporate decisionmakers around the value of water-centric adaptation from a business and economic perspective. We would like to extend a tremendous amount of gratitude to GIZ as we humbly undertake this work with and through the AGWA network.
