Introducing AGWA's new Water Resilience Tracker Director
AGWA is excited to welcome our newest team member, Idrees Malyar, who joins us following a distinguished career working for the government of Afghanistan as well as with numerous international organizations such as the United Nations, European Union, UNDP, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and USAID.
Throughout his career, Idrees has held several relevant roles, including Deputy Minister for Policy and International Affairs in Afghanistan’s National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) and Assistant Resident Representative and Head of the Environment and Climate Change Division at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Afghanistan. In these positions, he advanced Afghanistan’s climate change agenda, promoted sustainable water management, and secured substantial funding from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
Idrees assumes the Water Resilience Tracker portfolio from interim director, Ingrid Timboe, who is taking on a new role as Deputy Executive Director and Senior Policy Lead at AGWA. Those of you joining the next Policy Group Call will have the chance to hear from Idrees and our exciting plans for this next phase of the WRT.
Please join us in welcoming Idrees Malyar to the AGWA Policy Network.
